Cape Fur Seal Behaviour
Seal Snorkeling is a natural wildlife activity, and the Cape Fur Seal is a friendly and curious animal by nature.
We do not feed them or chum and observe according to what they allow us to in their environment.
During mating season (November/December) they can show some aggressive behaviour when irritated or feeling territorial over their space and in this case we will either move location or at the absolute worst cancel. This is a very rare occurrence though as over this past year, we have had to only move or cancel less than 1% of our trips.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellation by client within 48 hours 50% fee charged.
Cancellation by client within 24 hours or no-show full fee charged.
Cancellation by client prior 48 hours 10% admin fee charged.
Refund Policy
If we cancel because of unsafe weather, we try to do that 24 hours before arrival. Full refund will be given, it will take -/+ 7 working days to complete. Seal Snorkeling Cape Town covers all bank charges.
HOUT BAY
Hout Bay (Afrikaans: Houtbaai, meaning "Wood Bay") is a lively coastal town 20km from Cape Town central known for its scenic views, the best fish and chips and the neighbourhood's most loved market.
From here we will take you to Duiker Island, home to 10 000 fur seals, where we will observe and swim with these friendly creatures in their natural habitat.
THE CAPE FUR SEAL
The Cape Fur Seal (also known as the brown fur seal / African fur seal) is the largest and strongest fur seal weighing between 100 - 300kg.
SNORKELING
Snorkeling is a great way to observe our beautiful underwater life without all the extensive training and complicated equipment required for scuba diving.
We will provide the wetsuit, mask, snorkel and fins as well as a short training session to make sure you are comfortable with the mask and snorkel.
